Position Description: Site Superintendent (Northern & Special Projects)
Reporting To: General Superintendent
POSITION SUMMARY:
Manage all project related site operations and personnel.
Provide leadership for Health and safety.
Provide input and review of project estimates.
SCOPE:
Implement Health & Safety policies.
Provide mentoring to project field personnel.
Assist Project Managers as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Health and Safety
- Understands and implements QMLP’s Corporate Health and Safety Program, Policy and Procedures. Ensures Health & Safety is considered in the performance of all activities,both on and off the job site.
- Leads by example
- Review and recommendations on near misses and incidents
- Conduct site Health & Safety inspections
- Implement daily safety meetings
- Participate in Health & Safety committees and meetings
- Coordinating Health & Safety monitoring with Site Health & Safety Officer
- Project Communication
- Ensure that client’s policies and procedures are implemented
- Work with the Project Manager to liaise with client representative
- Ensure project progress and scope changes are communicated to the Project Manager
- Project Execution
- Review project work plan, schedule and budget with the Project Manager
- Assist in hazard identification and Health & Safety Plan development
- Assist in project field personnel/equipment identification and selection
- Attend project related meetings
- Execute project specific orientations
- Monitor work activities and report progress to the Project Manager
- Maintain project specific records and documentation
- Update schedule and work plan as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree (Civil, Environmental, etc.) or equivalent experience
- Experience Required:
- 5 to 10 years civil earthwork construction experience
- Demonstrated experience in a supervisory capacity
- Demonstrated leadership experience
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of earthwork construction principles
- Organizational skills
- Computer literacy
- Leadership ability
- Strong communication skills
- Commitment to safe work practices
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work environment will be at remote sites and includes both office and field. Extensive travel will be required.
